How can these out-of-touch-with-Pakistani-reality kids know a thing or two about what life in Pakistan is all about? Do they know how it feels to stay up at nights due to load-shedding or inhaling the smog-filled air of Pakistani cities? Have they ever driven on the broken streets of Pakistan? Have they ever dealt with any of the government institutions as a regular Pakistani? Have they ever been in an overflowing-with-kids Pakistani school bus? Have they even walked through the streets of Pakistan after a rain? Have they ever been to a grocery store in Pakistan?

Until these ‘imported’ kids experience living in Pakistan, they cannot and should not speak about the problems or plight of Pakistanis. This ‘imported’ ruler/elite tradition goes back to the days of the British Raj when every few years we would get a new Viceroy to rule our ancestors. Fortunately for us, the British left but they left behind this notion of ‘imported’ leaders, a curse that we still live with even now.Afia imrannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2832755185202471354.post-70876783370430577882010-08-11T06:00:54.470-07:002010-08-11T06:00:54.470-07:00our leaders wont change unless we change…. and we ...our leaders wont change unless we change…. and we are just not willing… it is always easier to blame. we love to blame others.. the feudal, the rich, the politicians, the army.. the bureaucrats the journalists.. dont we all belong to one or more of them.. y not change ourselves to change the institutions.Saadia Siddnoreply@blogger.com
